Biography
Lena Takabayashi (she/her, but prefers to be called by name)
Lena Takabayashi is a Tokyo-based artist born and raised in Nagano, Japan. She studied abroad at National Taiwan University in 2022 for a semester. She graduated from Tyler School of Art and earned her BA in 2024.
While Takabayashi is a multimedia artist, she is close-knit with her camera. Her work ranges from flat sheets of paper to sculptural 3D forms. Her major interest, the idea of boundary, is represented through those flexible visual outcomes. Takabayashi often makes zines about her works and distributes them at zine events. Her interest in distribution is derived from her attempt to gauge relationships with anyone who is involved in her life.

高林怜奈は長野出身で東京在住のアーティスト。2022年に国立台湾大学へ１学期間交換留学をする。2024年にタイラー・スクール・オブ・アートを卒業し、学士号を取得。
様々なメディアを使用するが、特にカメラとは密接な関係にある。作品は平面から立体まで、様々な範囲に及ぶ。主要な関心である自他の境界が、それらの幅広い視覚表現を通して象徴される。しばしば作品についてのzineを制作し、即売イベントで頒布している。頒布に関する興味は、その度に出会う人々との関係性を測るための試みである。
高林怜奈（雖然she/her, 比較喜歡被叫名字）
高林怜奈是來自長野現居東京的藝術家。她於2022年前往國立台灣大學進行為期一學期的交換留學，並於2024年畢業於泰勒藝術學院，取得學士學位。
她運用多媒體創作，尤其是與攝影有密切的關係，作品涵蓋平面到立體多種形式，透過多樣的視覺表現，象徵主要關心的自我和他人的界線，她經常製作關於作品的zine，並在現場販售活動中發表，對於發表這件事抱有興趣，是一種藉由每次和他人相遇來探索彼此關係的嘗試。
Artist Statement
Art-making is my way to reconsider the boundaries of myself and/or others. My works are installations, books, and a combination of photography and texts. I perceive my works as a transitory space, where people’s expectations are constantly evolving. I believe the raw and fictional space through a lens and writings are open to anybody.
We have different ways of perceiving the world, which I describe as a lens. Each lens of ours is tinted to a different color, so does mine. Sometimes I find our different perspectives challenging in building or sustaining relationships. I want to focus on this idea in my work because I believe that we have resilience in ourselves and relationships. My ultimate goal is to accommodate people’s opinions with different tints to find a final balance of our conversation.
My starting point is from personal thoughts or questions that are often a quirky word-play, and then make it relatable to others. This relatability means that I believe in the audience’s will to stand next to me and open a conversation. The purpose of my practice is to build an honest and unpretentious relationship with the audience.
作品制作は、自他の境界を再考するための方法です。私はインスタレーションや本を、写真と文字を組み合わせることで制作しており、作品は人々の期待が交わって形を変えていく一過性の空間やであると認識しています。レンズや文字を通して見る、生々しく架空の空間は、誰にでも開かれていることでしょう。
物事の認識は人々によって異なり、私はそれを眼鏡に例えます。私たちの眼鏡がそれぞれ違う色に染まっているように、私もまた色眼鏡を持っています。関係性を構築したり存続させることが難しいのは、私たちがかけている眼鏡のレンズがそれぞれ違う色だからです。私はこの考えに着目しており、あらゆる関係性には回復のための弾力性があると信じています。私の最終的なゴールは、人々の様々な色眼鏡を通した意見を受け入れ、最終的な会話の終着点を見つけることです。
私はしばしば、突飛もない個人的な考えや疑問、言葉遊びから作品を作り始め、それを他の人にも共感できるようにしています。ここでいう共感とは、必ずしも普遍的という意味ではなく、鑑賞者が私の隣に立ち共に会話を始める意志を信じるという意味です。私たちの間に正直で気取らない関係を築くことが、私のアート制作の目的です。
創作對我來說，是一種重新思考自我與他者界線的方法。我透過裝置藝術與書籍創作，結合攝影與文字，認為作品是一種短暫存在的空間，會因人們的期待交織而不斷變化。透過鏡頭與文字所觀看的那種既真實又虛構的空間，是對所有人敞開的。
對事物的認知因人而異，我將這種差異比喻為「眼鏡」。就像每個人戴著的眼鏡鏡片都有不同的顏色，我也同樣有自己的有色眼鏡。人與人之間難以建立或維持關係，是因為我們的眼鏡顏色各不相同。我特別關注這一點，並相信所有關係中都存在著修復的彈性。我最終的目標，是能接納透過各種不同顏色眼鏡所看見的觀點，並找出對話的終點。
我的創作經常從一些異想天開的個人想法、疑問或語言遊戲出發，並試圖讓這些想法成為他人也能產生共鳴的作品。這裡所說的「共鳴」，並不代表普遍性，而是相信觀者願意站在我身旁，開始一段對話。建立一種真誠、不造作的關係，是我進行藝術創作的初衷。
